Dentures

Dentures are a popular replacement for missing teeth. They improve facial appearance , jaw function ,health of the supporting muscles and joints.

Dentures consists of a plate with artificial teeth made of acrylic resin which is held in place by the suction power of your gums. Dentures enable you to bite and chew in the same way as with natural teeth.

There are two types of dentures - complete and partial.
Complete dentures are used when all the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some of the natural teeth remain.

What happens when your teeth is lost
A Partial denture is useful at preventing your remaining teeth from shifting out of position due to lost teeth. if there is a gap in a row of teeth then what happens is that the teeth either side start moving out of position due to a lack of support .This shifting of position can cause a whole range of problems such as bone loss around the area. A partial denture can prevent this and is further boosted by the addition of implants .these implants helps to secure the denture in place .

An overdenture retained by implants may be an option for complete missing tooth replacement. Over dentures are a combination of traditional dentures and the newer science of dental implants to prevent bone loss that could result from dentures alone.
